Russian President Vladimir Putin is having one of the best hockey runs of his life, according to USA Today.
Putin’s “Hockey Legends” squad defeated the Night Hockey League 17-6 in a exhibition game on Wednesday in Sochi, Russia.
Putin scored seven goals in the win.
Russian News Agency first published the story, which USA Today said means there’s a possibility that “this falls under the heading of fake news.”
Putin, 64 and a southpaw, doesn’t face too much defense when approaching the goal, USA Today reported.
Here’s how USA Today’s sports scouting guru Kyle Woodlief described Putin’s play:
"He skates fine in a straight line, but his turning radius exhibits all the grace of a 500-foot-long Russian battleship," Woodlief said. "He must be well-known in Russian hockey circles for having Gordie Howe’s well-educated elbows, because everybody seems to give him a wide berth — he certainly knows how to make room for himself.”
Putin did, however, fall on his backside at one point during the match, Sky News reported.
Putin also made a play outside the rink, batting away a question about President Donald Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, CBS News reported.
As Quartz reported, Putin’s been on a bit of a scoring tear this year, as he only scored 1 goal in 2016.
He did, however, notch 8 goals in 2015, according to Quartz.
“A better question for the president might be about the workout routine he keeps in order to play at such a high level, especially since the competition is surely not cutting him any slack once the puck drops,” Quartz reported.
