The Utes are headed to Santa Clara, California, to take on the Indiana Hoosiers in the Foster Farms Bowl on Dec. 28.

The Hoosiers finished 6-6 overall and 4-5 in the Big 10 Conference.

The Hoosiers started their season 2-0 in non-conference play before falling to Wake Forest in the third week of the season. The following week they beat Michigan State in overtime, 24-21.

After that win the Hoosiers went on a three game losing streak, falling to Ohio State, Nebraska and Northwestern. The Hoosiers struggled all season to get something going.

Their their other wins came against Maryland, Rutgers and Purdue with the other two losses coming against Penn State and Michigan which finished No. 5 and No. 6 respectively n the College Playoff final rankings.

As far as strength of schedule goes, the Utes came in at No. 31 and Indiana was No. 64.

Utah leads the series, 2-1

The last time these two teams played each other was in 2002 in Salt Lake City where the Utes won 40-13. The Utes hold a two game winning streak against the Hoosiers. The only loss to the Hoosiers came in 1975, the other win coming in 2001.

Indiana players to watch

Offensively, quarterback Richard Lagow has been solid for the Hoosiers. He finished the season with 3,174 yards passing on the year, averaging 8 yards a throw. He finished the regular season with 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

Lagow finished second in passing yards in the Big 10, third in completions per game, and fourth in completion percentage.

Defensively, the leader for the Hoosiers is Tegray Scales. Scales has recorded 116 tackles this season, 20.5 for loss. He had one interception, which was returned for a touchdown.

First game as head coach

Kevin Wilson resigned last week as head coach after allegations of player mistreatment surfaced.

Tom Allen, who helped improve Indiana's defense, was named the new head coach on Dec. 1.
