A group of people tour the 2,500-seat Delta Performance Hall in the new George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City in mid-September. The theater at 131 S. Main will be open to the public beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, with a celebration premier performance headlined by Tony Award-winning performer Brian Stokes Mitchell and Broadway actress Megan Hilty. Local performing arts companies will also perform at the event, including Ballet West, the University of Utah Department of Theatre and Ririe-Woodbury Dance Co. Tickets are $50-$200. Opening celebration events will continue throughout that weekend, inclduing an open house and 15-minute performances from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22; the Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word" from the theater at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23; and an additional opportunity to tour the theater that day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to the the Delta Performance Hall, the state-of-the-art theater features an intimate black box theater, event and rehearsal spaces, a six-story grand lobby, an outdoor plaza and a galleria that connects the theater to the adjacent 111 Main office tower. The theater’s various spaces will host national touring Broadway shows, concerts, comedy and other entertainment events, as well as innovative local performances.
