Fresh off his fifth-place finish at the Canadian Amateur Championship, Utah Valley University junior golfer Blair Bursey tied for second at the Siegfried and Jensen Utah Open qualifier on Monday after carding a 6-under-par 66 at Soldier Hollow Golf Course.

Bursey was one of 28 golfers in the 125-player field at the event to earn himself a spot in this week's Siegfried and Jensen Utah Open, which will be played Aug. 26-28, at Riverside Country Club in Provo.

The UVU golfer registered one eagle and five birdies in Monday's round to turn in the lowest amateur score of the day.

Utah Valley senior JT Timmons finished in a tie for 29th after recording a score of 1-under-par 71. Timmons' score earned himself the third alternate spot at this week's Utah Open. Ariel Elftman-Hanson tied for the 74th spot after shooting 2-over-par 74.

Bursey will play the first round of the Siegfried and Jensen Utah Open on Friday. Live scoring for the event will be available on the Utah section of the PGA website.
