Michelle Brown and Misty Alford look at pieces of glass while touring the newly expanded Momentum Recycling facility in Salt Lake City on Monday. During the open house, Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams and Wasatch Front Waste and Recycling District’s Pam Roberts announced that the county will expand its curbside glass recycling service, which could keep 100 tons of glass out of the landfill every month. “New customers will help us reduce waste throughout Utah. Our company picks up glass containers curbside at an affordable cost to homeowners, and then we take the glass to our plant where it is broken down and recycled into new materials,” Jeff Whitbeck, Momentum Recycling co-founder, said.
