MURRAY — Lindsey Armstrong, a sixth-grade teacher and Title 1 coordinator at Horizon Elementary School, has been named the Murray School District’s Teacher of the Year.
In addition, Randi Leffel, an accounting technician in the district offices, has been named Classified Employee of the Year.
The pair were honored during the Board of Education’s May meeting.
Armstrong was hired in 2011 as a fourth-grade teacher at Horizon Elementary School. After teaching at several grade levels in the school, she is now the Title 1 coordinator while also teaching sixth-grade half day. Highly connected to the schools and community, Armstrong serves on a myriad of committees and in mentoring capacities.
Leffel came to the district in 1996 as an accounting technician. She has continued with that assignment, adding many additional areas of expertise to her workload, including that of district benefits expert, answering questions and clarifying benefit information for employees.
