A pedestrian walks past a mural on 200 South outside The Road Home shelter in Salt Lake City, Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015.

Volunteers ignored gray skies and sometimes stormy weather Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, to add a splash of color to the now-complete mural outside the Road Home, 210 S. Rio Grande St.

Over the past six weeks, local artists working with Road Home residents have been designing and painting the mural on the outside and inside walls of the facility’s playground area. The Road Home is a private, nonprofit social services agency that assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County and along the Wasatch Front.
