Shay and Colette Butler are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who live in Pocatello, Idaho, have five children and make millions of dollars on YouTube.
The Butlers, or the "Shaytards" as they are known online, have become known as one of YouTube's first families, and were recently featured on ABC's "Nightline" for their success in daily video blogging.
The family's name "Shaytards" is a combination of the father's first name, Shay, and a reference to the unitard he wore in his first video in 2007. The Butlers created their YouTube channel in 2008 and now have nearly 4 million subscribers and more than 1.9 billion video views.
During the interview with "Nightline," Shay Butler explained why he believes they've found success.
"The ultimate answer to the question, 'Why do people watch your videos?' is because inside I think people want a happy family," Shay Butler said. "I think that is a longing for a lot of people. And I think that is why a lot of people watch, to get hope that they can have that."
