PROVO — The BYU men’s soccer team will host the Real Monarchs at South Field on Wednesday for their final game of the season.

Originally, the Cougars were supposed to play Real Colorado, but due to scheduling conflicts, the Cougars announced the game against the Monarchs Monday afternoon.

“It’s really exciting to play the Monarchs,” said Chris Watkins, head coach of the BYU Cougars. “For our fans who don’t know, this is like the BYU men’s baseball team playing the Salt Lake Bees. We’re excited to close out our season with this game.”

The game Wednesday is Senior Night for the Cougars, and four of the Cougars will be honored before the game. The four players to be honored will be goalkeeper Jake Peterson, defender Ariel Chavez, forward Jace Green and forward Garrett Gee.

Assistant coach Chad Sackett will also be honored before the game as well.

Kick-off on Wednesday will be at 7:30 p.m., with Senior Night starting around 7:10 p.m. Ticket prices will be the same as PDL games, and season passes will get you into the game.

BYU competes in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The Cougars have competed in the league since May 2003. BYU’s team is the first university sponsored soccer program to purchase a franchise and compete at a higher level.

BYU was one of 19 PDL teams to be selected to participate in the 2015 U.S. Open Cup.
