Wayne Buckley, 73, may have been camping in a remote area when he went missing earlier this month, the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday, June 24, 2015.

TIMBER LAKES, Wasatch County — A 73-year-old man may have been camping when he went missing earlier this month, police said.

Wayne Buckley, of Provo, was last seen June 7, and his Chevrolet truck was later found near the remote Currant Creek Area of Wasatch County.

Search and rescue crews have made several searches of the area to no avail, the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday in a statement posted to Facebook. Buckley was alone when he went missing, and police say they don't know what he was wearing at the time.

Buckley, who suffers from emphysema, was unlikely to get very far on foot, according to the sheriff's office. He had only his clothing and a small firearm with him at the time he disappeared.

It's possible somebody may have given Buckley a ride from the approximate area where his truck was found, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators are seeking the public's help locating Buckley. Anyone who may have information on his disappearance is asked to call the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office at 435-654-1411.
