OGDEN — Aggravated murder charges were filed against an Ogden man Tuesday, revealing brutal details about the death of a single mother in her Washington Terrace apartment.

Lyle Robert London, 38, is accused of suffocating and beating 32-year-old Lindsay Holbrook to death. She was found dead in her apartment last weekend.

Holbrook's body was discovered shortly before midnight Friday when officers went to the Woodland Cove Apartments, 374 E. Ridgeland Drive, to investigate a hit-and-run accident involving Holbrook's car.

Police investigating the crash on Washington Boulevard discovered that the car was registered to Holbrook but had been driven by a man at the time of the accident.

Holbrook had been the victim of a financial crime being investigated by the Weber County Sheriff's Office before her death, and the description of a suspect in that case, London, matched that of the hit-and-run driver, charges state. Officers found Holbrook's body when they went to inform her of the crash.

After police located London, he told investigators he had been having sex with Holbrook at her home and fell on top of her, possibly breaking her neck, charging documents state. Holbrook was still making noises, he said, and so he put his belt around her throat, used duct tape to put pillows on her head, and then hit her several times in the head with a baseball bat, according to the charges.

London then allegedly wrapped Holbrook's body in a blanket and hid it in a closet.

Police have not specified what the relationship may have been between Holbrook and London, calling them "associates."

An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of Holbrook's death, though multiple blunt-force lacerations were noted on her head, according to police.

London is also accused of making at least $1,500 worth of withdrawals and purchases from Holbrook's accounts after her death.

London's wife, Shuree Laness London, 35, was also arrested over the weekend and charged Tuesday with obstructing justice, a second-degree felony. She is accused of helping her husband get money from Holbrook's accounts, all while knowing she was dead.

Shuree London said her husband told her he was going to kill Holbrook and take her money in order to buy an RV to move the couple and their children to California, according to police.

Lyle London was charged in 2nd District Court Tuesday with aggravated murder, a first-degree felony; obstructing justice, a second-degree felony; desecration of a human body, a third-degree felony; unlawful acquisition of a financial transaction card, a third-degree felony; unlawful use of financial transaction card, a third-degree felony; and giving false personal information, a class A misdemeanor.

Lyle London has pleaded guilty to several misdemeanor charges dating back to 1999, including possession of drug paraphernalia, intoxication, simple assault, interruption of a communication device, criminal mischief and theft, according to state court records.

Shuree London pleaded guilty to theft in 2010.
