The Utah State Prison and surrounding area in Salt Lake County.

The Deseret News recently published another front-page article about moving the Utah State Prison ("Salt Lake City sites are 'wholly inappropriate' for new prison," Dec. 2).

The millions of dollars we are looking at to move the prison should and could be put to much better uses in our state. I agree with Jill Remington Love, deputy chief of staff to the Salt Lake City mayor, who said: "At the end of the process, it might be that leaving it there (in Draper) is the best option for the state."

The current situation with moving the prison was brought about by the Republican caucus; it was a bad decision that was never supported by the majority of Utahns.
