Deseret Digital Media was named a top workplace along the Wasatch Front in an employee satisfaction survey conducted by The Salt Lake Tribune.

The Tribune partnered with employee research firm WorkplaceDynamics to find the state’s best places to work. DDM — home to KSL.com, DeseretNews.com, FamilyShare.com and other digital products — was one of 829 companies nominated by their employees, 83 of which were included in the survey.

The questionnaire covered seven factors, including work-life balance, manager concern for employees, company values and leaders, as well as pay and benefits.

“We are honored to have been selected for the award, particularly as the judges were our employees,” said Chris Lee, president of Deseret Digital Media.

Those listed among the top workplaces along the Wasatch Front included 15 each in the large- and medium-company categories, and 20 among small companies, for a total of 50. The top honor in each category went to

“Anyone could nominate a company,” WorkplaceDynamics CEO Doug Claffey told The Tribune. “The sole requirement was that the organization employ at least 35 people in the Wasatch Front. The company could be public, private, nonprofit or governmental.”

The oldest company recognized is the Salt Lake City Public Library, founded in 1898, which has 297 employees. It was ranked 15th among medium-sized companies. Two companies founded in 2009 were recognized, including MasteryConnect, 39 employees, ranked second among small companies, and Deseret Digital Media, 215 employees, which came in ninth among medium-size companies.

“Since its founding just five years ago, DDM has been a fun place to innovate and learn for all of us who work here,” said Lee. “I'm grateful to work alongside such a talented team that continues to achieve remarkable results.”
