SANDY — Police have identified the man who died from a Friday fall in Bells Canyon as 50-year-old Michael Lydon, of Park City.

Lydon was one of two men climbing or rappelling on a remote rock face known as Bells Beast. Unified Police said the area is meant for experienced climbers.

It is believed that Lydon fell a "considerable distance," according to police, and his climbing partner, 33-year-old Chris Wood, of Midvale, was left hanging by ropes on the rock wall for several hours. Wood called for help at around 3:30 p.m. Friday and rescuers reached the duo at about 7 p.m., according to police.

Wood is reported to be in good condition.
