GARLAND — Box Elder escaped with a 33-25 victory over Bear River in the annual Golden Spike game Friday night.

After Box Elder built a late 33-13 fourth-quarter lead, Bear River stormed back with two late touchdowns and a near onside kick recovery. The Bear River comeback fell short, however, as the Bees held on for victory.

The game featured several electrifying runs, including a 58-yard TD gallop by BYU commit and Box Elder Bee Riley Burt, who finished with over 100 yards on the ground and two TDs.

Bear River sophomore running back Gage Kaneko also dazzled the crowd. He had an 80-yard touchdown scamper and finished with 142 yards rushing on just 12 attempts.
