BOUNTIFUL — As the weather starts to cool off in northern Utah, preseason high school football continues to heat up as Logan and Bountiful wait to face each other tonight.
The Logan Grizzlies will bring competition to the field, which is no surprise to Bountiful head coach Larry Wall. Coaching football for 30 years, Wall can expect the contest against Logan to be a tough and strengthening game every year.
"We schedule [Logan] because they are one of the elite teams in the state. We want to play the very best people we can in the preseason, so we know where we are at when we enter into the league," said Wall. "Logan will always have one of the top quarterbacks in the state, as well as great receivers."
Since last week, the Braves have been refining their technique primarily for special teams, focusing lot of emphasis on kicking. Bountiful will continue to hold a few players from tonight's game as they recover from injury.
Due to an ankle injury, Bountiful is missing senior running back Houston Heimuli, who played a great game against Lone Peak, gaining 160 yards. However, Kaden Simmons should do a great job as he helps lead the team and run the ball.
With a home-field advantage, the Braves have a mind-set to succeed and look forward to this evening.
"Our kids expect to come out and be successful. They put a lot of pressure on themselves. We put the pressure on them. That's a part of the tradition here, we're supposed to win, were supposed to come out and play well and win football," Wall said.
