Brigham Young Cougars forward Nate Austin (33) and Gonzaga Bulldogs guard Kevin Pangos (4) scramble for the ball during NCAA basketball in Provo Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014. The score was tied 39-39 at half.

PROVO — The West Coast Conference released its 2014-15 basketball schedule Monday, revealing that BYU will tip off league play against perennial power Gonzaga in Provo.

The Cougars and Bulldogs meet Dec. 27 at the Marriott Center during Christmas break on BYU's campus. It's a rematch of the WCC tournament championship game last March won by the ’Zags.

BYU and Gonzaga won’t meet again until two months later in Spokane, on Feb. 28, in the regular-season finale for both teams.

This year’s WCC schedule features a double round-robin format. Unlike last season, the Cougars will face all nine conference foes in each half of the schedule.

All of BYU’s conference games will be played on a Thursday or Saturday, except one — a Dec. 29 game at home against Portland.

The Cougars will play no more than three consecutive road games.

BYU visits Saint Mary’s on Jan. 17 and hosts the Gaels on Feb. 12.

The 2015 WCC tournament will take place March 5-10 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
