ST. GEORGE — Four homes were damaged Saturday after a fire broke out at a mobile home park.

Firefighters were called to the park at 425 E. 900 South around 1:30 p.m. and found one home "heavily involved" with flames, St. George Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Taylor said. Firefighters immediately began to fight the blaze but were hampered by 20 mph to 30 mph winds.

Taylor said there were sheds and awnings that were very compacted within the park, causing the fire to spread to four homes. Two were totally destroyed, and two others were damaged.

The Red Cross in southern Utah reported that 15 people were displaced by the fire, which also destroyed some sheds near the homes.

Taylor said the fire caused about $100,000 in damage.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but Taylor said it is believed to be accidental.

No one was injured in the incident.
