One would expect government officials to lay down a one-sided line concerning the gun violence at the U.S. courthouse in Salt Lake City on April 14.

But where are the human rights and legal rights gurus, the church, education, and social service agency spokespersons? Where are the political party leaders and the independent newspaper editors and columnists on this topic?

It seems like not only in courthouses, but on the highways and in the city streets of America, law enforcement officers have forgotten how to shoot to wound. Here in Salt Lake City it is very sanitary technologically to get off five rounds to the torso of a man armed with "a pen or a pencil," but very messy legally.
