First responders take part in a training program to learn how to best respond to chlorine incidents Tuesday, April 8, 2014.

Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response, Union Pacific, BNSF Railway and the Chlorine Institute host training programs for emergency responders from the Salt Lake region at Union Pacific’s Roper Yard in Salt Lake City.

Chlorine incidents are very rare and most often involve minor releases resulting from improperly securing tank car valves or fittings, officials said.
