ROY — The Roy Royals hosted crosstown rival Bonneville in Wednesday night prep basketball, and Roy earned the victory 61-59.
Roy took the early lead, closing the first quarter with a 16-8 lead. The Lakers came out and strung together several 3-pointers and by the end of the half the contest was tied 30-30.
In the third quarter, the lead changed hands several time but when the horn sounded the Lakers led the home Royals 46-43.
The seesaw game continued in the fourth quarter. With 1.8 seconds left, the Lakers were unable to capitalize on free throws that would have forced overtime and the game ended in favor of the Royals, 61-59.
