"A HOLIDAY MIRACLE IN APPLE BLOSSOM," by June McCrary Jacobs, Sweetwater Books, $12.99, 144 pages (f)

"A Holiday Miracle in Apple Blossom" is June McCrary Jacobs' debut novel and is a heartwarming and encouraging story for the holiday season.

Amber Kellen works as an elementary school teacher in the cozy town of Apple Blossom. One of her students, Mary Noel Simmons, has been hit and seriously injured by a car outside her home. The accident also killed Mary's best friend — her dog.

When Amber goes to the hospital to see Mary, she meets Paul Watkins, an employee of Mary's father. They get to know each other and start to form a plan to help the Simmons family with their mounting medical bills. As they start to help carry out this plan, romance buds between Amber and Paul.

It is a quick read that is pleasant and clear of swearing, detail violence or innuendo.

Jacobs is a Californian and has also published several sewing-related works. "A Holiday Miracle in Apple Blossom" is the winner of Cedar Fort's 2013 Holiday Tale Contest.
