Brigham Young Cougars wide receiver Cody Hoffman (2) won the offensive MVP player of the game during the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012. BYU beat San Diego 23-6.

PROVO — BYU senior wide receiver Cody Hoffman has been named to the 2013 Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list.

A 2013 preseason All-American, Hoffman led BYU with 100 receptions for 1,248 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound native of Crescent City, Calif., enters his final season needing 19 receptions, 538 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns to become BYU’s all-time leader in each category.

Hoffman, also a two-time All-Independent team selection, leads all returning FBS receivers in career receiving touchdowns (28) while ranking third in career receptions (203) and fourth in career receiving yards (2,718) among active FBS players.

Named after Pro Football and College Football Hall of Fame receiver Fred Biletnikoff, the Biletnikoff Award was created in 1994 by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. Biletnikoff was an All-Pro with the Oakland Raiders after earning All-America honors at Florida State University. He caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns in his 14-year Raiders career from 1965 through 1978. Biletnikoff was the MVP of Super Bowl XI.

Hoffman's selection to the Biletnikoff watch list brings the total number of BYU players named to a college football award watch list to seven. Senior Kyle Van Noy leads the way for the Cougars, having already been named to four separate watch lists: the Bednarik Award, the Nagurski Award, the Lott IMPACT Trophy and the Butkus Award.

With Hoffman's addition to the Biletnikoff watch list, 14 different players associated with Beehive State FBS football have been named to a college football award watch list.
