SALT LAKE CITY — There were plenty of fireworks at Spring Mobile Ballpark on Saturday night, but unfortunately for the Bees, they all happened after the game had ended.

A postgame celebration with fireworks was arranged as a special thanks to service members on Military Appreciation Night, but as it turned out, those were the only fireworks 8,933 fans got to see from the home team as the Bees were blanked by Nashville, 11-0.

Zach Kroenke picked up his first win of the year for the Sounds, going 6 1/3 innings and giving up only six hits and no runs. Bees manager Keith Johnson credited Kroenke's pitching with keeping Salt Lake from getting into a groove.

"That guy kept us off-balance," Johnson said. "The beauty and the curse of our game I'd guess you'd say, no matter how good you are one night, you still have to come back out the next night and prove yourself all over again. Their guy did a good job of mixing things up and got us to mishit a lot of balls. We didn't really have a whole lot of opportunities and got shut out for the first time this year."

Coming off a 12-6 victory the night before, Johnson said fundamentals were a key to having an offensive reversal from one night to the next.

"You have to get leadoff guys on base and execute," Johnson said. "You've got to get guys over and get guys in, but he did a good job of getting our leadoff guy out for the most part tonight. It's just one of those nights. You gotta chalk it up tomorrow and try and salvage a split of the series."

The Bees are hoping right-handed pitcher Jarrett Grube can pull a Kroenke Sunday night and pick up his first win of the year.

Johnson's club has been unpredictable coming off losses this year.

"It's been hit or miss," Johnson said. "It kind of depends on the health of our ballclub. Grube gets the ball (Sunday). Hopefully he'll give us another quality start and we'll be able to scratch across a couple of runs for him."

Sunday's series-ending game begins at 1:05 p.m.
