BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder dominated the relays at the four-team Box Elder Relays on Saturday, but it was a couple of Jordan throwers who started the season off strongest.

Javelin state record holder Austin Kafentzis started the season strong with a toss of 175’09, while teammate Lavontae Calhoun had a very strong shot put toss of 51’06. Only two boys tossed the shot put farther all of last season.

On the girls side, Box Elder’s Lana Willard turned in a very strong long jump with a distance of 17’03.00. A jump of that distance would’ve earned her a top four finish at last year’s 4A state track meet.

Team scores were not kept at the Box Elder Relays.
