Utah State men’s tennis defeated the Montana State Bobcats, 5-2, at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club onFriday. Utah State took the doubles point after winning two straight matches and then won four singles matches. The Aggies are now 2-4 for the spring season.

In singles play, senior Sven Poslusny took down Niklas Brandes at the No. 1 spot in straight sets (6-3, 6-1), and in the No. 2 spot, junior Fredrik Peterson defeated Markus Schleuter in straight sets (7-6, 6-2). In the No. 4 spot, sophomore Matt Sweet defeated H. James in straight sets (6-4, 6-4), and sophomore Tanner Dance took down Prithiv Sivasubramaniam in the No. 6 spot in straight sets (7-6, 6-4). In the No. 3 spot, Montana State's Javier Martin-Morallis took down USU sophomore Marcus Fritz in straight sets (6-4, 6-3), and MSU's Deigo Campos Contreras defeated USU's Curran Wearmouth in straight sets (7-6, 6-2) at the No. 5 spot.

The Aggies dominated in doubles action as Poslusny and Fritz took down Brandes and Campos in the first position, 8-3. In the third position, junior Andrew Whiting and Sweet defeated Sivasubramaniam and Martin-Marallis, 8-4. At the second position, USU sophomore Sean Levesque and Peterson played against Schleuter and James, but they left the match unfinished.

The Aggies now hit the road to take on in state rival Utah on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 9:30 a.m. Utah is currently 4-0 for the season. The next home match for USU will take place on Saturday, Feb. 16, when the Aggies take on Idaho at 9:30 a.m. and Mesa State at 3 p.m.
