NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Utah Valley University's Sammie Jensen has been named Great West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week after posting three double-doubles in three games last week. The award was announced Tuesday by the league office.

Jensen, a senior from Stansbury Park, Utah, averaged 21.3 points and 13 rebounds for the week. She also helped the Wolverines knock-off in-state rival and Preseason WAC favorite Utah State 78-62 last Monday by scoring a career-high 31 points on 12-for-16 shooting. Jensen also added a double-double against the Aggies with 14 rebounds.

Jensen posted two more double-doubles with 20 points and 14 rebounds at San Jose State and 13 points and 11 rebounds at Santa Clara. The forward and reigning conference player of the year shot 63.6 percent from the field (21-33), a perfect 2-for-2 from behind the arc, and 76.9 percent from the free-throw line (20-26) for the week.

The conference honor is Jensen's first of the season and sixth of her career.

Others nominated for the weekly honor were Jackie Jones (Chicago State), Shanice Steenholdt (Houston Baptist), Rayven Johnson (NJIT) and KaeLynn Boyd (Texas-Pan American).
