One person was hit by a UTA bus after she attempted to help another person involved in a scooter accident on 4500 South in Murray on Wednesday, July 18, 2012.

MURRAY — A good samaratin was critically injured after she was hit by a bus while trying to help someone who had crashed on a scooter.

The incident began with a relatively minor scooter crash near 310 E. 4500 South around 3 p.m., Murray police officer Kenny Bass said. After the driver of the scooter went down, a bystander along 4500 South went over to help.

"According to witnesses, it appeared she wanted to go render aid and stepped out into westbound traffic in front of a UTA bus," Bass said.

The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the scooter sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

As of Wednesday night the woman's name and condition had not been released.
