A couple who it is believed to be the home owners hold each other as Crews from Unified Fire Authority and West Jordan respond Tuesday, June 19, 2012 to a two alarm fire at 3075 west 7140 south.

WEST JORDAN — A two-alarm fire ripped through a West Jordan home Tuesday night, destroying the attic, an attached garage and a shed.

But firefighters' first priority was the family they thought was inside.

Hannah Cutler, who lives next door to the house near 3000 West and 7100 South, said other neighbors tried to get the family out before fire crews arrived.

"My son and a couple other neighbors were in there trying to get the family out," Cutler said, "and the family was trying to (tell them), 'Let's get the hose and try to put it out.'"

But the fire was already progressing through the garage door, so Cutler said the neighbors just hurried and got them out. Nobody was injured.

Investigators are still working to determine how the fire started.
