WEST VALLEY CITY  — A Friday afternoon neighborhood tussle sparked a shooting that left one man hospitalized in Utah and another man jailed in Nevada for investigation of attempted murder.

The 6:30 p.m. dispute at a residence near 3300 S. Squirewood Drive began with a friendly wrestling match between two men who were told to knock it off by some neighbors.

West Valley Police Lt. Mike Coleman said the two men, who had been working on a concrete project, exchanged words with the neighbors and police were called.

After the parties were separated and told to avoid each other, police left.  An hour later, the fight resumed and one of the neighbors went into his house, came out with a handgun and fired multiple shots, according to police.

The victim, who was not identified by police, was shot in the shoulder and  treated at an area hospital.

Police caught up with the neighbor, who they identified as Bobby DeVore, 29, in Wells, Nev. DeVore was arrested and jailed in Elko on suspicion of attempted homicide and fleeing the scene.
