SALT LAKE CITY — A local construction firm will conduct a service activity to beautify the grounds of a Salt Lake charity.

Staker Parson Companies will donate gravel and mulch for The Christmas Box International's main entrance and beds surrounding the building while other local companies will provide trees and shrubs. A group of 60 employees will participate in the service.

The Christmas Box International partners with local and international communities and groups to prevent child abuse. The organization also seeks to improve the quality of life for hundreds of children each year who have been removed from situations of abuse or neglect. With a staff of just four full-time employees, they rely largely on volunteers and private donations for funds to provide services to children and teens in need.

Inspired by The Christmas Box’s mission, Staker Parson decided to provide this service to the charity. The event will take place Thursday, May 31, from 8 a.m.-noon at The Christmas Box's headquarters, 3660 S. West Temple.
