MIDVALE — A party will be held on May 31 to bid farewell to the 61-year-old Midvale Elementary School, which will be closed after this school year.

A carnival will be held from 3 to 7:30 p.m. at the school, 362 W. Center (7720 South). A special ceremony recognizing staff and PTA boards past and present will be held at 6 p.m.

The event will include inflatables, games, food, and fun, including a Silly String Showdown. Most activities cost $1.

This fall, Canyons School District will open a new Midvale Elementary at 7852 S. Pioneer St. (310 West). The new school will be adjacent to Midvale Middle School. The new elementary will have state-of-the-art classrooms, and plans call for additional gymnasium, playground and parking spaces.
