SOUTH SALT LAKE — A woman who was critically injured in a Sunday crash has died as a result of her injuries.
Lisa Gallegos Kelly, 50, of Taylorsville, was riding in the passenger seat of a Cadillac near 3300 South and West Temple when the Cadillac crossed the median and struck a Hyundai that was stopped at the intersection, South Salt Lake police spokesman Gary Keller said. Randi Byers, 26, of West Valley City, was driving the Cadillac and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kelly was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition but succumbed to her injuries late Monday.
The Hyundai was carrying two people — a 16-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man — who were transported to the hospital in critical condition. The accident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m.
The two passengers in the Hyundai were in serious but stable condition, Keller said Tuesday. It was not yet known what caused Byers to cross into oncoming traffic. Everyone but Byers was wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, he said.
