SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake man was charged Wednesday with attempted murder in the stabbing of a person he was dating.
Mark Gonzales, 23, was at his apartment at 786 N. 900 West when he was arguing with a a person he was dating Sunday. According to court documents filed Wednesday in the 3rd District Court, the victim, a biological male who identified as a female, called Gonzales a "baby" and began walking away.
Gonzales then stabbed the victim in the throat and turned the knife before pulling the knife out. He then grabbed the victim by the hair and inflicted 10 additional stab wounds, charges state.
Gonzales was charged with one count of attempted murder, a first-degree felony, and one count of purchase, transfer, possession or use of a dangerous weapon by restricted person, a third-degree felony.
