BRIGHAM CITY (AP) — A Riverdale man died when he was crushed by a front loader in Promontory Point.

Family members went to look for Mitchel Shaw, 46, when he failed to return from work at some mineral ponds, and found him dead about 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say it appears that Shaw was in the driver's seat and reached out of the vehicle after the hydraulics arm failed. The arm apparently fell on him and crushed him.

Box Elder County sheriff's deputies said Shaw's work at the ponds was part of a small family business. His work included driving a front loader and leveling the ponds.

Officials say the death does not appear suspicious.
