LONG BEACH, Calif. — The Utah Valley University track teams placed in the top three 26 times in their respective sections or flights Saturday at the Beach Invitational at Cerritos College.
Tim Rowberry had a pair of top finishes in the 400 meters and 800 meters, with times of 58.62 seconds and 1:51.04, respectively.
Maryn Pincock had a pair of two finishes as well in the discus and shot put. She tied her school record she set the day before at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a throw of 157 feet, 8 inches, which won her flight, and she was third (41-8.75) in the shot put.
Nicholas Taylor (10.77) won his section in the 100 meters and was third in the 200 meters (21.77).
Wendy Peterson (12.74) was second in her section in the 100 meters and was third in the 200 meters (25.98).
"It was a really nice week for us," UVU track coach Scott Houle said. "Being an Olympic year, we had a lot of Olympic athletes come in from all over the world. It was a lot of fun to see so many future Olympians. Our kids are competing at a high level and we had a lot of top finishes."
In the women's 100 meters, the Wolverines had two finishers in the top three: Rebecca Brown-Renshaw (12.41) was second in her section, while Anna Yeboah (12.20) was third in her section.
In the 400 hurdles, Ryan Hudson (56.98) was second. In the men's 200 meters, Jacob Brydson (21.96) was third in his section.
The women's 4 x 100 teams placed second in its section with the time of 47.10.
