LOGAN — Utah State track and field senior thrower Lindsey Spencer extended her school record on her way to winning the hammer throw, and sophomore thrower Bryce Hall also won the hammer throw on Day 1 of the Utah State-hosted Mark Faldmo Invitational at Ralph Maughan Track Stadium.

Spencer's toss of 61.04m (200-03) not extended her school record, and she continues to lead the Western Athletic Conference in the event this season. The mark also ranks No. 15 in the nation for the hammer throw this season. Meanwhile, Hall threw the hammer 56.93m (186-09) to capture his second hammer throw event this season.

Senior Spela Hus finished right behind Spencer in second place with a personal-best mark of 53.41m (175-02), while Dottie Vea of Weber State placed third with a throw of 52.19m (171-02). Sophomore Keeley Edlredge ended the day in fifth place in the same event with a mark of 48.88m (160-04) to round out the Top 5 placers for USU.

On the men's side, Mike O'Farrell and Matt O'Farrell of Idaho State finished in second and third place in the hammer throw with tosses of 50.74m (166-06) and 49.81m (163-05), respectively.
