Betting on marriages? It might sound ridiculous, but it might be possible with Wedding Gift Refund, a service for guests at weddings.
For many couples, it doesn't take long to go from the wedding day to signing divorce papers, according to Daily Finance. A wedding guest can register 8 percent of the gift price on the website and upload a copy of the receipt. If the marriage doesn't last three years, Wedding Gift Refund will refund the price of the gift.
What if guests could insure gifts they haven't even bought? This shouldn't be too difficult through the company's website, as the only restriction is that registered gifts must cost between $50 and $500. All a person has to do is get gift receipts from other guests and upload them onto the site, according to the article. The person might have to pay some amount of money for the receipt, but if a receipt is bought for $10 and the gift is worth $100, the investment is only about $18.
