MANILA, Daggett County — The Utah Highway Patrol reports a semitrailer hauling 11 to 12 containers of a chlorite solution rolled over onto its top and into a ravine Thursday around 1:20 p.m.
The accident happened on state Route 44 about 10 miles from Manila.
UHP troopers at the scene reported that each of the containers was damaged. The driver was seriously injured and was flown by medical helicopter to a Salt Lake area hospital.
The driver told emergency responders that he had to take evasive action to miss an animal in the travel lanes. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
