DRAPER — A 4-year-old girl was rushed by helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center after she was accidentally run over by the family van.

The child's mother was driving the 15-passenger van and had stopped at the mailbox to check the mail when the accident ocurred around 4:30 p.m. Monday, said Draper Police Sgt. Pat Evans.

When the van stopped, several older children got out to go into the house, which is next door to the mailbox. The mother didn't realize the 4-year-old had also gotten out of the van. The girl was struck and suffered lower body injuries when the mother pulled the van forward.

The child was flown to the hospital for possible broken bones, and she is in serious but stable condition, Evans said.

The accident occured at Holly Grove Court in Draper, which is at about 15100 South near Traverse Ridge Road.
