SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police are searching for a woman who stabbed another woman in the neck following a fight over a man who is in jail.

Police said two groups of women met around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Sun River Apartments at 1080 W. 3300 South in South Salt Lake and a fight ensued.

A woman involved in the brawl pulled out a knife and stabbed a 19-year-old woman in the back of the neck, then fled the scene, police said.

Witnesses called police, and the victim was transported to Intermountain Medical Center, where she is expected to recover.

Meantime, police found three of the women who were involved in the fight near 4300 South and 800 West in Taylorsville. They were taken in for questioning, but later released when it was determined that they weren't the ones responsible for the stabbing.

Investigators have some information about who the woman who did the stabbing might be, but are not releasing her name at this time.

Police are saying the motive is a love triangle.
