HURRICANE — An 8-year-old boy was ejected and two others injured when a car carrying siblings rolled several times on I-15 Sunday.
The boy, whose name was not immediately released pending notification of family, was flown by medical helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical Center in a condition that was not life-threatening, according to Utah Highway Patrol trooper Dan Altenes.
About 2:15 p.m., a car driven by an 18-year-old woman with her 8-year-old brother and 11-year-old sister inside, rolled four or five times. Investigators said the driver swerved for an unknown reason and lost control of the vehicle while traveling southbound on I-15. The trio was traveling from Salt Lake City to their home in Henderson, Nev.
The boy slipped out of his lap belt and was ejected, Altenes said. The 11-year-old girl remained seat-belted in the car and received injuries to her arms and face. The driver received minor injuries.
The two females were taken by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center. The cause of the accident remained under investigation Sunday. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors, Altenes said.
