TREMONTON — A northern Utah volunteer firefighter and EMT faces criminal charges for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old Idaho girl he befriended on Facebook.
Federal agents arrested Bo Brady Burdick, 20, on Tuesday after serving a search warrant at his parents' home in Tremonton. During an interview with investigators, he admitted having sex with the girl four to six times, according to U.S. District Court documents.
Burdick, who works at the Thatcher-Penrose Fire Department, sent the girl a Facebook friend request in February 2011.
Over the next few months, he gave her his telephone number and they began texting each other. He asked her to email him explicit photos of herself, which she did "'cause he kept asking me … and I gave in," court documents state. He also allegedly emailed her nude pictures of himself.
In late June, Burdick drove to the teen's rural Idaho town where they met and walked around. He asked her to go back to his motel room so he could change his socks "because he stepped in some puddle because it was rainy," the girl told investigators. Burdick held her down and forced himself on her, according to court documents.
The girl's mother discovered that the girl had been texting with Burdick and took her iPod Touch. During a subsequent trip to Idaho, Burdick gave the girl his iPod Touch. The two met several times between June and September 2011.
Idaho authorities became aware of the relationship when the girl met with a Children at Risk Evaluation Services or CARES interviewer at a Boise hospital.
Burdick faces charges of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
