Maj. Gen. Andrew E. Busch has been nominated for a third star.

HILL AIR FORCE BASE — Air Force officials have announced the president’s nomination of Maj. Gen. Andrew E. Busch for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with a new assignment.

Pending Senate confirmation, Busch, commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill, will become the vice commander of Air Force Materiel Command.

"It's an honor to be nominated for this position. My nomination is still pending Senate confirmation, and the exact timing of my departure is unknown. In the meantime, I continue to be amazed by the professionalism of the men and women in the Air Logistics Center. I've enjoyed my three years at Hill and the relationships I've developed. I look forward to my continued service in the Air Force," Busch said in a prepared statement.

Prior to his assignment at Hill in July 2009, Busch was the commander of Defense Supply Center Richmond, a field activity of the Defense Logistics Agency, in Richmond, Va.

Busch has commanded three maintenance squadrons and a maintenance wing. He also has experience in supply, transportation and acquisition issues at the wholesale logistics level.
