SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s On the Spot Renewal program just hit a major milestone.

Since its launch in 2005, the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles renewed more than 2 million vehicle registrations through the online service used by more than 500 inspection stations statewide.

It allows drivers to submit a complete vehicle inspection and annual registration renewal all in one location in a matter of minutes and get a decal issued immediately.

“On the Spot was the nation’s first real-time registration renewal program offered where citizens are already having their vehicles serviced, and we are pleased to have reached this significant milestone,” said Barry Conover, executive director of the Utah Tax Commission.

The program is so successful that it is expanding to include registration renewals for watercrafts and off-road vehicles at selection stations.
