WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley couple were charged Wednesday with locking their baby in a hot car in July.
Police responded to a report that a small child was locked in a car on 2575 S. 5600 West on July 23, 2011. When an officer arrived, he observed a 3-month-old infant drenched in sweat and showing signs of dehydration, according to charges filed Wednesday in 3rd District Court. The child was inside the vehicle, sitting with his parents.
Prosecutors say Roy Camposano, 29, and Jeanette Camposano, 23, "intentionally imperiled the health and welfare of (their) infant child by leaving him unattended for 30 minutes in a vehicle that was not running and had its windows rolled up."
Each was charged with child abuse and reckless endangerment, both class A misdemeanors, and warrants were issued for their arrest. It was unclear why it took more than seven months to file the charges.
