MONTE CRISTO — Three snowmobilers who were reported missing Thursday were found alive and well Friday morning by a Department of Public Safety helicopter.

The group was reported missing Thursday afternoon in the Monte Cristo area. Searchers were forced to call off their efforts about 10 p.m. Thursday because of bad weather.

"You couldn't see anywhere," said team commander Gary Stoker. "We went out in three teams. Some of the teams were heading north when we were supposed to be going west. One of them went south when they were supposed to be going west. Even with our GPS it was terrible conditions."

The search resumed early Friday and the trio was found about 7:45 a.m. The group said they found a vacant cabin and spent the night inside. When they heard the helicopter Friday morning, they went outside to flag it down.

"They slept pretty good and it was just the initial storm that put them down and got them a little bit worried," said Brandon Toll of Weber County Sheriff's Office.
