SALT LAKE CITY — The public is invited to learn basics of pipeline operations and regulations at workshops and a conference this month.
On Friday, a free Pipeline 101 Workshop will be held on the fourth floor of the Salt Lake Main Library, 210 E. 400 South, from 2-4 p.m. The workshop will cover the different materials that flow through local pipeline systems, risks associated with pipeline transport of hazardous materials and the agencies tasked with regulating pipelines. Participants will also learn about the safety record of these systems, both nationally and locally, and what members of the community can do to affect pipeline safety.
The same workshop will also be offered on Saturday from 10a.m.-noon in Room 326 of the Salt Lake City-County Building, 451 S. State.
In addition, Salt Lake City, along with the independent watchdog group Pipeline Safety Trust, will host a two-day conference on pipeline issues on March 15-16 at The Leonardo.
