SALT LAKE CITY — Utah leads Stanford 34-33 at halftime in the Huntsman Center.
Jason Washburn and Chris Hines lead the Utes with 11 points apiece at the break.
Washburn scored all of Utah's points as the Utes jumped out to an early 6-4 advantage.
It didn't last long, however.
Stanford responded with a 12-3 run to take the lead and control of the game, for a while.
The Cardinal evened the score on a tip-in by Dwight Powell and pulled ahead when Chasson Randle hit the first of back-to-back 3-pointers.
Utah was held scoreless for 3:38 at one point during Stanford's outburst and fell behind by nine on two occasions — the last time at 25-16 with 8:15 remaining in the half.
The Cardinal failed to make another shot from the field for the 6:06 as the Utes rallied back into contention and regained the lead. They opened the comeback with eight straight points, fueling a 14-2 run that gave them a 30-27 edge with just over three minutes to go.
The lead changed hands twice before the half was complete. A pair of free throws by Javon Dawson capped all scoring with 58 seconds left to play.
