To the editor:

I have been pleased to read in the Deseret News about efforts of the Regional/Urban Design Assistance Team in making recommendations to city officials on how to revitalize downtown Salt Lake City.I agree that the time is right for government, business, civic, and community leaders, as well as members of the general public, to increase the dialogue to adopt new and creative proposals for improving our fine city.

FHP, Inc., has made a strong commitment to downtown by renovating and purchasing an historic structure in the central business district.

Our employees enjoy the amenities and vitality of downtown, but they realize there are problems which need to be addressed (e.g. rush hour traffic, convenient parking, and transient loitering).

We look forward to hearing of and being involved in upcoming efforts to implement many of the R/UDAT's proposals. This is an opportunity we should not pass up.

Elden R. Mitchell

Regional Vice President
